Voy a ser realmente sincero, “me encanta que halaguen mis fotos”. Es más, posiblemente mi interés por la fotografía sería menor sin el reconocimiento de la gente. Ese es el pequeño alimento que necesita mi ego para intentar mejorar cada día con mis fotografías. ¡Qué le vamos a hacer!, ese es mi defecto.

Mi contacto con la fotografía empezó allá por 1991 cuando fui a la pre-inauguración de la Exposición Universal de Sevilla con una cámara réflex de la madre de una amiga. Hasta ese momento, solo había tenido en mis manos pequeñas cámaras automáticas familiares y me quedé prendado con las posibilidades de jugar con la exposición de esa réflex.

Desde ese momento he evolucionando desde esas primeras fotografías intentando realizar tomas técnicamente buenas (de “postal”, como yo las llamo) hasta hoy en día, donde mi mayor interés es expresar y transmitir lo que veo, imagino y siento en ese momento.

Me gusta ir contracorriente y llevar la contraria (seguro que mi mujer lo puede corroborar). Intento ser lo más original posible en mis fotografías. Busco imágenes distintas con puntos de vistas no convencionales. No me interesa retratar la realidad tal y como es. Me interesa coger esa realidad y convertirla en algo distinto jugando con las luces y las sobras para crear una atmósfera dramática. En definitiva, me gusta crear, no solo capturar. Busco que la fotografía sea el camino para imaginar y ver el mundo de otra manera.

La simpleza de muchas de mis fotografías se mezcla con pequeños detalles en la misma que hace que cambie la lectura de la imagen. Me gusta que el observador se fije pausadamente en todos los detalles, la composición, las luces, las sombras y las texturas.

I'm going to be really honest, "I love that people flatter my photos." Moreover, possibly my interest in photography would be lower without the recognition of people. That is the small food that my ego needs to try to improve every day with my photographs. What are we going to do! That is my fault.

My contact with photography started back in 1991 when I went to the pre-inauguration of the Universal Exposition in Seville with a reflex camera from the mother of a friend. Until that moment, I had only had in my hands small automatic cameras familiar and I was taken with the possibilities of playing with the exposure of that SLR.

Since that moment I have evolved from those first photographs trying to make technically good shots (from "postcard", as I call them) to this day, where my main interest is to express and transmit what I see, imagine and feel at that moment.

I like to go against the current and take the opposite (surely my wife can corroborate). I try to be as original as possible in my photographs. I look for different images with unconventional views. I'm not interested in portraying reality as it is. I'm interested in taking that reality and turning it into something else by playing with lights and leftovers to create a dramatic atmosphere. In short, I like to create, not just capture. I seek that photography is the way to imagine and see the world in another way.

The simplicity of many of my photographs is mixed with small details in it that makes it change the reading of the image. I like the observer to fix slowly on all the details, the composition, the lights, the shadows and the textures.
